There are a few flagship Napa Valley wineries that need no introduction. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars tops the list as one of Napa’s original Wine Pioneers.
These bottles are the living embodiment of Stag’s Leap in rare three-liter formats from the highly acclaimed 2009 vintage: S.L.V. Vineyard, FAY Vineyard, and the legendary CASK 23. Here’s a bit about each vineyard so it’s understood how prestigious this lot really is!
Also known as Stag’s Leap Vineyard, S.L.V. is where history was made. First planted in 1970 on volcanic soils with excellent drainage, S.L.V. achieved global fame when its 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon famously triumphed over Bordeaux’s most highly acclaimed châteaux at the 1976 Judgment of Paris.
The heart and soul of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars begins with the FAY Vineyard. Established in 1961 by pioneering grower Nathan Fay, it was the first Cabernet Sauvignon planting in what is now the Stags Leap District. A tasting of Fay’s homemade Cab in 1969 inspired founder Warren Winiarski to pursue his vision of world-class wines from these soils.
CASK 23 is the ultimate Stag’s Leap bottling. CASK 23 is a selective blend of the finest fruit from both the S.L.V. and FAY vineyards, resulting in a wine of extraordinary depth, richness, and refinement.
This is more than three big bottles. It is a celebration of Napa Valley history and a crown jewel for any cellar worth its salt!
