Vintners’ Tasting Wines Announced
Only 136 people will be included in the Vintners’ Tasting in the hour before l’Eté du Vin begins, and the $100 tickets will sell out fast. In attendance at the tasting will be the evening’s Guests of Honor: Bordeaux winemaker Jean-Charles Cazes of Château Lynch-Bages, Napa winemaker Dennis Cakebread of Cakebread Cellars, local winemaker Kix Brooks of Arrington Vineyards, as well as Jamie Pollack from Zachys Wine Auctions, the tasting’s moderator. And, oh, the wines!
Vintners’ Tasting guests will be treated to our very own middle-Tennessee winery, Arrington Vineyards, who will share its debut sparkling wine, 2010 Sparkle!, a limited edition, handmade sparkling white wine. The winemaker promises crisp lemon, apple and toast flavors with a long fruity finish. Tasters delight.
Cakebread will uncork their 2008 Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, described as a “vivid, textured wine” that is “all power and class,” by Wine Advocate. Guests will also sample the 2006 Merlot, as well as 2007 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley, a pinot that displays “depth and complexity,” according to Wine Spectator.
Lastly, guests will taste the 2000 Château Lynch-Bages, one of the winemaker’s best vintages, which earned no less than 96 points from both Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. “An utterly profound Lynch-Bages,” notes Wine Advocate. The 2003 will also be poured, another excellent vintage. Lynch-Bages is world renowned for its fine bouquet and silky, refined tannins and its long, textured finish. Located in the famed Pauillac region of France, the vineyards at Château Lynch-Bages have yielded arguably some of the best Bordeaux reds the world has ever known.
