The 42nd Annual l’Eté du Vin presents Marchesi ANTINORI | A 635 Year Legacy of Winemaking
Nashville Wine Auction to Unite Wine Community to Fund Fight Against Cancer In Person This October
NASHVILLE, TENN. – AUGUST 31, 2021 – The Nashville Wine Auction will present its 42nd Annual l’Eté du Vin in person on Sat., Oct. 23, at JW Marriott. This year’s theme is “Antinori … A 635 Year Legacy of Winemaking.” Niccolò Maltinti, U.S. Commercial Director and Brand Ambassador at Marchesi Antinori, will serve as the event’s guest of honor. The Antinori family has been in the winemaking business since 1385 when patriarch Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild.
l’Eté du Vin was voted the “#1 Event You Missed the Most” in 2020 by Nfocus Magazine readers, and that sentiment is clearly reflected in the ticket sales as all the summer prelude dinners sold out, and the October 15 Patrons’ Dinner has just a few seats left. l’Eté du Vin Auction night on Oct. 23 tickets are still available here, but they are predicted to sell out as well.
The Nashville Wine Auction launched the ramp-up to l’Eté du Vin with its presentation of “A Summer of Antinori,” which included three gourmet dinners in July, August and with one more scheduled for September. These events featured the large portfolio of Antinori wines and celebrated the history and tradition of this winemaking family. This dinner series was a way for supporters of the Nashville Wine Auction to enjoy the breadth of Antinori wines leading up to l’Eté du Vin. These events sold out very quickly.
“I’m thrilled to have Alessia Antinori in Nashville as our Guest of Honor,” said Holly Whaley, Pres. and CEO of the Nashville Wine Auction. “The generosity and partnership of the Antinori family makes for an extraordinary program, and I know our wine community will enjoy this Italian wine experience. Our supporters have been loving all things Antinori wine this summer, and I predict that this year’s Black-tie Patrons’ Dinner at the Hermitage Hotel will be very, very special.”
“We have so much to celebrate and for which to give thanks this year,” said Board Chair Lisa Maki. “We have come through many challenges together in 2020, and our nonprofit survived, stronger than ever, thanks to our supporters. We want to recognize that. Our staff, leadership, vintners, sponsors, donors and bidders have been with us through it all, even when we were gathering virtually. We are looking forward to getting together safely in person this year to continue our efforts in the fight against cancer.”
Earlier this month, Whaley announced her upcoming retirement from the Nashville Wine Auction after serving more than a decade at the non-profit organization. (see announcement here Whaley To Retire). Her last day as president and CEO will be Nov. 19, 2021, although all expect for her to remain a strong supporter for years to come.
In addition to this l’Eté du Vin being the last one for Whaley at the helm, the Norman M. Lipman Award will be presented to Bill Nunnelly at the Patrons’ Dinner. Artist Revi Ferrer will serve as the featured artist and has donated two works of art: one of Alessia Antinori’s favorite bottles of Antinori wine and the second a collection of great wines from around the world inspired by the l’Eté du Vin logo.
This year’s event co-chairs are Sharon & Bill Piper, and Lynne & Dave Teckman.
“It feels great to finally celebrate our 42nd Annual l’Eté du Vin and the Antinori Family together in person for what we expect to be our biggest l’Eté du Vin ever,” said Lynne Teckman.
“I’d like to give a special ‘thank you’ to our sponsors,” said Bill Piper. “Their support has remained strong despite challenges that exist in our world, and that is essential to our organization, our mission, and especially to our beneficiaries.”
