Lot Details

The pursuit of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is an affliction shared by the masses, and this trip into the heart of Sonoma’s wine country just might make it worse. Heh, just kidding. Experience Kanzler Vineyards, Three Sticks, Kosta Browne, and Clarice Wine Company and determine if this three-night stay for four couples has the cure to what ails you… MORE Pinot and Chard!

Your accommodations for three nights are in the enchanting west hills of Sonoma County at the beautiful Kanzler Farm Stay, a luxurious vacation house with 360-degree vineyard views. This private 20-acre estate is just a few minutes’ drive from charming downtown Sebastopol and is off the beaten path, yet at the center of wine-lover heaven in the Russian River Valley.

The vacation house exudes comfortable sophistication, and amenities include pool, hot tub, outdoor fire-pit lounge, full kitchen, multiple seating areas, sun deck, and four bedrooms with en suite baths. Gracious touches—such as bathrobes and slippers—abound. You’ll have the entire property to yourselves for morning vineyard walks and evening stargazing.

Day One:
Check into your accommodations and start right away with a tour of the working Kanzler Estate Vineyard with a Kanzler family member and discover the factors that make it a jewel of the Russian River Valley. Find out why this lucky location allows grapes to hang longer on the vine, and bottles to age longer in the cellar. Then, revel in an intimate European-style tasting of truly small-lot, handcrafted Kanzler wines—including the very coveted Estate Reserve Pinot Noir.

Dinner is up to you. Head to one of the region’s exquisite restaurants or stay in and cook a feast in the vineyard house’s gourmet kitchen. Or, if you’d rather relax while a private chef whips up something fabulous, our friends at Kanzler can refer some local geniuses.

Before you tuck into the lusciously comfortable beds, be sure to sip wine and stargaze from the hot tub.

Day Two:
In the morning, we suggest a walk in the redwoods or at the beach, and treats from one of the extraordinary local bakeries such as Pascaline or Wildflour.

Next on the agenda is a tasting and lunch at the fabled Three Sticks nearby where you will start in the rocky, volcanic soils of Durell Vineyard, one of the most diverse and prized vineyards in Sonoma Valley. Planted primarily with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this rolling 610-acre parcel spans the Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Coast and Carneros AVAs, and is the birthplace of Three Sticks Wines.  Proceed to the historic Vallejo-Casteñada Adobe winery where you will enjoy a private lunch prepared by local celebrity chef, Chef Armando Navarro of El Dorado Kitchen, paired with Three Sticks wines.

Cap the afternoon off with a visit to the revered Kosta Browne Winery in their sleek Sebastopol digs for a VIP tour and tasting. Kosta Browne first caught the wine world’s attention with a bottling of Kanzler Vineyard fruit which became the highest-rated American Pinot Noir. The winery has been crafting exceptional and sought-after wines from this vineyard ever since. Taste more from the impressive KB lineup and peek behind the winemaking scenes.

Head back to Kanzler and bliss out with a vineyard walk, some time by the pool, and board games or a novel in the reading nook. For dinner we suggest putting together the ultimate charcuterie board with locally made goodies from nearby shops like Bohemian Creamery—their handmade cheese tasting is a hidden gem, and a must!

Finish the day with a glass of Pinot at the pergola on the north side of the estate, where sunsets cast magic across the vineyard.

Day Three:
The only appointment on your agenda today is a stunner, with Clarice Wine Company. Adam Lee’s 30 years of harvest have dubbed him a Pinot Whisperer, Pinot Legend, and even, Pinot Wizard. After selling Siduri Wines to Jackson Family in 2015, Lee moved forward in creating Clarice Wine Company in 2017. These wines are only sourced from the famed Garys’ and Rosella’s Vineyard in Santa Lucia Highlands. He then joined forces with Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s, Philippe Cambie, to revolutionize Pinot Noir with the Beau Marchais label in 2019. Lee continues to consult for many wineries, including his General Manager’s, Moret Brealynn’s eponymous label. The winner of this lot has the opportunity to taste all three of these highly acclaimed wines, with production less than 500 cases for each brand. Truly boutique Pinot Noir at its finest.

No plans after that, so why not take the opportunity to explore another part of Sonoma, perhaps Healdsburg, Dry Creek Valley, or Kenwood? Go with suggestions from Nashville Wine Auction or choose your own adventure. This trip is wide open for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay exploration!

Check out the following morning, and return to Nashville a bonafide Burgundy-phile, able to answer the most alluring mysteries about Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Most important of which is… How many bottles will fit in a suitcase?

Gather your friends and raise your paddle high and for this Pinot and Chard extravaganza in Sonoma!
