Nashville Wine Auction Presents SOMM 3 Movie Premiere In Music City

Iconic wine movie’s Nashville-area premiere is Nov. 7 at Franklin Theatre

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – October 5, 2018 – The Nashville Wine Auction is proud to partner with Forgotten Man Films and SOMM star Dustin Wilson, MS (Master Sommelier), in bringing the premiere of SOMM 3 to the Nashville area at the Franklin Theatre.

SOMM 3 continues the fascinating look into the world of wine which started in the iconic 2013 film SOMM. It also explores the industry’s celebrated professionals …the sommeliers. Nashville is one of only three cities with which Wilson is working to host this movie premiere, another indication of the national recognition of the flourishing Nashville wine and food scene (the other two cities are New York City and San Francisco). Proceeds from ticket sales of this event benefit the Nashville Wine Auction, which raises money throughout the year for local cancer-fighting organizations by hosting wine-centered fundraising events.

“I’m thrilled that Nashville was selected by Dustin Wilson as one of only three cities to host this type of premiere event for SOMM 3,” said Holly Whaley, President/CEO of the Nashville Wine Auction. “The Nashville Wine Auction is the perfect organization to present this event to our wine community. It will be a great night for wine lovers!”

“I’m so excited to share the SOMM 3 film with the wine-loving folks in Nashville in November!” said Dustin Wilson, MS. “It’s a huge honor for me to be there, share some wine, and raise a glass with such an amazing food and wine community. I can’t wait!”

Three sommeliers featured in SOMM 3 will attend the movie premiere: Dustin Wilson, MS (who is in all three SOMM movies), Michael Engelmann, MS, and Sabato Sagaria, MS. Also attending the Nashville-area premiere is the movie’s producer/writer, Christina Wise.

The co-chairs of this unique event are Tiffany King, Timothy Kirch, Chris Otillio and Shane Bailey.  All four co-chairs are alumni of the Nashville Young Leaders Council (YLC) and have served on the Nashville Wine Auction Board.

Franklin Theatre doors will open at 6:45 pm on Nov. 7, and the movie will begin at 7:30 pm. There are three ticket package experiences from which to choose.

Naturally, wine will be served at the reception and during the movie.

ABOUT SOMM 3:  The world of wine hasn’t always been the way it is today. In 1976, Steven Spurrier held the Judgment of Paris, a blind tasting where American wines beat out the classic French wines and put wine on a global platform. Wine critics like Jancis Robinson, one of the most prolific wine writers, started to influence what wine people drank. And then there’s Fred Dame, father of the restaurant wine list and the man that made the sommelier profession what it is today. In SOMM 3, these three legends of the industry sit down in Paris to taste the rarest bottles of their careers. Meanwhile, Dustin Wilson gathers the greatest blind tasters of today in New York City for a secret tasting similar to the original Judgment of Paris, with the goal to see if any of the world’s Pinot Noirs can stand up to the greatest Burgundies of France. In the end, both tastings cross with results that could change the world of wine forever.

SOMM 3 is the third film in the SOMM series and follows the influential films SOMM and its sequel SOMM: Into the Bottle.  Like the previous two films, SOMM 3 has unprecedented access to the highest levels of the wine world.
