Part One: On Saturday, May 15, 2021, the winner of this lot will get to bring nine of their closest friends to a once-in-a-lifetime dinner at The Virgin Hotels Nashville featuring an impressive vertical of one of Saint-Émilion’s most iconic estates: Château Figeac. Seated at the table will be none other than the Château’s world-renowned winemaker Frédéric Faye AND celebrated wine critic Antonio Galloni. Now read that again, slowly.

Still in shock? Here’s a little more about how truly exceptional this experience will be. Château Figeac is a leading light of Right Bank estates. While most of Saint-Émilion is situated on clay and limestone, leading to a Merlot driven blend, Figeac’s vineyards are planted on three gravel hills, allowing for a high proportion of Cabernet in their blends. The estate grows three varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, and because of the three varietals and three terroirs, Figeac handles climate extremes well. The terroirs adapt to each vintage.

Frédéric Faye has transformed the estate’s winemaking techniques to produce a wine that is consistently amazing, regardless of the curveballs of each vintage. His winemaking techniques… well, we’ll let him divulge those secrets at the dinner. Only the lucky winner will have access to those insights, sorry folks.

And instead of including the tasting notes for each of the wines in this vertical, we’ve just invited a very special guest, Antonio Galloni, wine critic extraordinaire and creator of Vinous to offer his thoughts, wisdom, and ultra-exquisite tasting skills to the evening’s already stacked festivities. Antonio’s fondness for Figeac’s epic wines is obvious from his consistently praiseworthy, nearly perfect scores, so it will be quite a treat to sip alongside this legend while he shares comparisons and offers expertise.

The vertical lineup of wines is beyond exceptional including top vintages from Figeac’s recent portfolio alongside iconic vintages: 2018, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2000, 1995, 1989, 1982, and 1961. This is a unique opportunity to experience the power of the terroir and development of these age-worthy wines. As a special treat, a lineup of Château Figeac’s delicate sister estate Château de Millery will round out the evening’s tasting.

The brand spanking new Virgin Hotel is the perfect setting for this spectacular evening… But wait there’s more. After dinner, you’ll finish the night with a guitar pull featuring some of Nashville’s top songwriters in a private space within Virgin Hotels Nashville. Who knows, maybe Antonio and Frédéric will come prepared to play along.

Part Two: If your mind hasn’t exploded yet, Château Figeac has upped its own game. In addition to a kick-ass dinner in Nashville, this lot ALSO includes a jeroboam (5L) of 2009 Figeac for your cellar. But wait, there’s more! They’re cordially inviting the winning bidder to grab some friends and visit the Château for a tasting AND a meal. To seal the deal, they’ve promised to dig deep in their cellar to open bottles dating back to the 1940s.
