Do you have plans on Saturday, May 1, 2021? If not, now you do! If so, cancel them! A Pisoni Party is happening at Loren Chumley and Scott Peterson’s house, and you do not want to miss it. Mark Pisoni is coming to Nashville to showcase some of his best juice. If you haven’t yet tasted the perfect Pinot and captivating Chardonnay from this Santa Lucia Highland superstar, let us give a bit of background to seal the deal.

Winemaker son Jeff and grape grower son Mark created the Pisoni label, releasing the first estate Pinot Noir in 1998. A second label, Lucia, debuted in 2000. Pisoni fruit quickly became highly prized in California and Pisoni Vineyard put Santa Lucia Highlands on the map, becoming one of California’s true ‘cult’ vineyards. Word on the street is that the original vines were cuttings from a famous Domaine in Vosne-Romanee, now referred to as the Pisoni selection or “clone.”

The Pisoni family produces just one spectacular Pinot Noir each year under their label, and total production ranges from 500 to 800 cases annually. Pam & Steve Taylor have generously shared FIFTEEN MAGNUMS of Pisoni Pinot (eleven from the estate and four vintages of Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir), along with four vintages of Pisoni Chardonnay. It’s going to be one heck of a lineup!

Yet another favorite Chef of the Nashville Wine Auction, Joe Townsend, will create the pairings for this five-course meal.  You’ve recently experienced Joe’s talents at 360 Bistro and Pairings 2020.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Davis, and an M.S. in Farm Business Management from Cornell. Fusing the hands-on skills he learned farming with his father and grandfather together with the ideas and viticultural models he adopted in academia, Mark tends the vines of Pisoni with affection and consummate skill.
