LOT 102 | Rare Harlan Three-Liter
Featured on live auction at approximately 7:04 pm
There are certain names that elicit feelings of admiration, reverence, and giddiness. Certain producers that make your heart pound and toes tingle. Just the thought of smelling, tasting, or experiencing their wine is enough to illuminate the senses. If you’re like us, one of those names is Harlan
For over three decades, Harlan Estate has been committed to creating a California “First Growth.” Founded in 1984, Harlan Estate is a winegrowing estate – consisting of 240 acres, 40 of which are planted to vines – in the western hills of Napa Valley, set above the fabled Oakville benchlands. When Bill Harlan took a trip with Robert Mondavi to Bordeaux and Burgundy, he began to daydream about creating a First Growth back home in Napa Valley. And boy, aren’t we lucky he succeeded!
Each mouthful of this Bordeaux blend is filled with elegant textures, freshness, structure, and a complexity that truly feels First Growth. It is no wonder this estate has accumulated a cult-like following of devoted fanatics.
This lot is even more exciting in that it comes directly from the source. Harlan has donated a 3L of their fabled 2016 Harlan Estate, and it’s up for grabs… to the highest bidder, that is! 100-point scores abound, from Robert Parker to James Suckling to Jeb Dunnuck. Parker described a bottle of the 2016 as “Impressively structured, incredibly nuanced and possessing all this latent tension, this brazen beauty is set to live for a good 60 years and possibly more!”
It’s time to ready yourself for a bidding war! This super rare large format of Napa’s royalty will be delivered right to the victor’s doorstep.
