Wine Events Calendar

From one summer’s eve in 1980 until now, we have hosted wine events and auctions in the Nashville, TN area to raise money for the battle against cancer. What started with Un Eté du Vin, “A Summer of Wine,” has grown into a successful non-profit organization known as Nashville Wine Auction. Generosity of Spirit: The funds raised at our events are donated to non-profit organizations for cancer research, patient treatment and family support. Because we are passionate about our community, all of our proceeds stay in Tennessee. If you would love to partake in an evening of glamour, generosity, good cheer and great wine, consider one of our auction events:

Churchill Men of Valor

October 7 @ 7:30 am - 10:00 am

SOLD OUT

Sir Winston Churchill was a man of many talents and exquisite taste. Ten gentlemen will join Gary Rzucidlo and Josh Ehrenfeld at Gary’s house on Friday, October 7, 2022 for a very Churchillian afternoon.

If there’s one thing Churchill was quite an expert in, it’s alcohol. Sailing to South Africa as a young war correspondent in 1899, Churchill took with him 60 bottles of alcohol: 36 bottles of wine, 18 bottles of aged scotch, and 6 bottles of vintage brandy with him.

According to Churchill’s private secretary Jock Colville, he’d kick off his day with a daily whiskey mouthwash. His whiskey of choice? Johnnie Walker. His cabinets were always stocked with whiskey, claret, and port.

Churchill is best-known as a whiskey drinker, but his favorite beverage was Champagne. Quoting Napoleon, he said that he deserved it in victory and needed it in defeat. He bought bottles from a variety of vineyards, but his preference was for Pol Roger, particularly the 1921 vintage. He was a loyal customer from his first glass in 1908 until his death, and he developed such a close affinity for the brand that it has created a label in his honor. One estimate places his consumption of Pol Roger champagne at 42,000 bottles during his lifetime.

Churchill was even quoted as saying, When I was younger, I made it a rule never to take strong drink before lunch. It is now my rule never to do so before breakfast. This lunch will pay homage to the great Winston Churchill, from start to finish.

This gathering will begin with, of course, Sir Winston Churchill Pol Roger, followed by a catered lunch prepared by Chef Kevin Ramquist and paired with Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Following the meal, the group will retire with an assortment of blended and single malt scotches (including Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Macallan 18 year) and of course, all the while enjoying cigars from a selection of Romeo y Julieta Habana Churchill cigars.
