The name, Memento Mori, is taken from an ancient Latin philosophy that reminds us of our mortality and the inevitability of death. Inspired by the serious health scares, family tragedy, and times of trial, “Memento Mori” is a shared mantra which long-time friends and owners, Adriel Lares, Hayes Drumwright, and Adam Craun, instead interpret as “Remember to Live.” It serves as inspiration and commitment in the crafting of sophisticated wines of tremendous balance, honesty and profundity. In essence, the name on every bottle is a reminder to live every day to the fullest.
Tonight’s auction lot is a rare 6-year library vertical of Memento Mori’s Flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012-2017. Winemaker Sam Kaplan translates each vineyard site into balanced, terroir-driven wines that tell the story of Napa Valley. This winemaking philosophy culminates in Memento Mori’s critically acclaimed flagship Napa Valley Cabernet.
